There are 4 different types of custody that the court can award:
- Sole legal custody, where one parent has the right and responsibility to make major decisions regarding the child's welfare, including matters of education, medical care and emotional, moral and religious development;
- Shared legal custody where both parents have a mutual role to make major decisions regarding the child's welfare, including matters of education, medical care, and emotional, moral and religious development;
- Sole physical custody, where the child resides with and is under the supervision of one parent, but reasonable visitation is granted to the other parent;
- Shared physical custody, when the child shares time residing with both parents and is also supervised by both parents.
We will help you determine the type of legal and physical custody arrangement that works best for you and your family and fight for your rights.
