Child support is money paid by one parent to the other parent in order to assist in the financial necessities of the child when the parties no longer live together. We know that having children can be expensive and that when a parent who has a child that lives with them most of the time, known as “the custodial parent,” is entitled to obtain child support. We also know that sometimes the person who pays child support may have a “change in circumstances” and might need to modify the amount of child support paid to another person. In both cases, we can help you file a written complaint in court that will specify what you are seeking. We will zealously represent you in court. The amount of child support is based on the income of both parents. The court will use guidelines to determine the amount of child support to be paid.
