1. Sole legal custody
This is where one parent has the right and responsibility to make major decisions regarding the child's welfare, including matters of education, medical care and emotional, moral and religious development.
2. Shared legal custody
This is where both parents have a mutual role to make major decisions regarding the child's welfare, including matters of education, medical care, and emotional, moral and religious development.
3. Sole physical custody
This is where the child resides with and is under the supervision of one parent, but reasonable visitation is granted to the other parent, unless the court decides that such visitation would not be in the child’s best interests.
4. Shared physical custody
This is when the child shares time residing with both parents and is also supervised by both parents. Physical custody is shared by the parents and the child has frequent and continued contact with both parents.
